“The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) is one of the most prestigious international platforms jointly organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and the Government of Azerbaijan,” Media Relations Manager of the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, Eldar Rasulov, told journalists.
Emphasizing that the WUF13 session, scheduled to be held in Baku in 2026, represents an important milestone in the global urban planning agenda, Eldar Rasulov noted: “The Forum, which will be held for the first time in the Caspian and South Caucasus region, is expected to bring together nearly 10,000 international participants, with the total number of attendees reaching approximately 30,000. Unlike previous WUF events, numerous heads of state and government will take part in the Forum. The event will feature 40 main sessions and 350 partner events. The main sessions will be provided with simultaneous interpretation in eight languages, including sign language.”
“Volunteers play an important role in the successful hosting of the World Urban Forum. A Volunteer Center has been established for this purpose, and 16,000 applications have been registered. A total of 2,500 volunteers who successfully complete the training program will be engaged in various areas of the event. Currently, a staff of nearly 300 employees has been formed, the majority of whom are professional specialists with experience in organizing international events,” Eldar Rasulov underscored.
He also noted that the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company began its activities on June 30, 2025, to ensure the high-level organization of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum. Within a short period, comprehensive activities were implemented in areas such as institutional preparation, spatial infrastructure planning, operations management, transportation, marketing, and communications.
