Azerbaijani businesspeople invited to join development projects in South Sinai

“It is essential to further deepen the sister-city relations between the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh and the Azerbaijani city of Gabala, as well as to expand cooperation toward developing the tourism potential of both countries,” Ismail Kamal, Egypt’s South Sinai Governor, said during his meeting with Azerbaijan's Ambassador Elkhan Polukhov.

The meeting highlighted that existing direct flights have significantly intensified bilateral relations. Consequently, both parties expressed a keen interest in increasing flight frequencies, noting that enhanced transport links are key to driving tourist traffic and fostering stronger business ties.

Governor Kamal detailed the Sinai Peninsula’s vast tourism potential and the ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the region. He extended a formal invitation to Azerbaijani businesspeople and investors to take an active role in these developments, emphasizing that reciprocal investment would serve the interests of both nations.

Discussions also addressed the preparations for the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) scheduled to take place in Baku. The Governor expressed his hope for a robust Egyptian presence at the forum, specifically from the South Sinai region.

Reiterating his gratitude for the invitation to WUF13, Governor Kamal underscored the value of such international platforms for exchanging expertise and forging new partnerships. Following the official talks, the Ambassador joined other dignitaries at a cultural event in Sharm El-Sheikh.
