Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, “We are ready to develop strategic, stable, and constructive relations with the US.”
At the initiative of China, which is presiding over the United Nations (UN) Security Council this month, a session titled 'Let's Uphold the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter, Strengthen the Authority of the UN-Centered Global System' was held. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi chaired the session at the UN Headquarters in New York and met with representatives from the US strategy, industry, and trade circles.
During the meeting, Wang Yi stated that the participants shared common expectations regarding strengthening the authority of the UN and implementing genuine multilateralism. Wang noted that the relations between China and the US are significant enough to affect peace and the future of humanity, and emphasized that the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of the relationship between the two countries is both the common expectation of the international community and the historical responsibility of the two nations.
Minister Wang stressed that China is ready to implement the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, accelerate the development of strategic, constructive, and stable relations, and expressed hope that the parties involved in the meeting would also make efforts in this direction.
The US representatives attending the meeting emphasized that China and the US are major countries and stated that both sides should strengthen coordination in various fields and jointly tackle global challenges.
