Another person evacuated from 'MV Hondius' tests positive for hantavirus
One of the 14 Spanish passengers evacuated from the 'MV Hondius' ship, where hantavirus cases were detected, and taken to Madrid, tested positive for the PCR hantavirus test.
The Spanish press reported that out of the 14 Spanish passengers taken from Tenerife to the Gomez Ulla Military Hospital in Madrid yesterday, one tested positive for hantavirus while 13 tested negative.
Sources from the Spanish Ministry of Health stated that the passenger who tested positive showed no symptoms, was in good general health, and a second test would be conducted to confirm or refute the preliminary result. It was reported that the individual, separated from the other 13 who tested negative, was transferred to the hospital's High-Level Isolation and Treatment Unit (UATAN).
