Venezuela's Response to Trump on '51st State' Comment
Venezuela's Interim President Delcy Rodriguez responded to U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated he was considering making the country the 51st state of the United States.

Venezuela's Interim President Delcy Rodriguez traveled to The Hague, Netherlands, to follow the case at the International Court of Justice regarding the Esequibo region dispute with Guyana. Rodriguez responded to U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated that he was considering making Venezuela the 51st state of the United States.

Rodriguez stated that such a thing is unacceptable, saying, "Because one of the most fundamental characteristics that define Venezuelans is our commitment to our struggle for independence and our dedication to the heroes and heroines of this struggle. We will continue to defend the integrity, sovereignty, and independence of our country. Our history is the victorious struggle of men and women who sacrificed their lives to make us a free country, not a colony."

Trump had stated in an interview with the American press that he was 'seriously' considering making Venezuela the 51st state of the United States.
