On January 16, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, met with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Ambassador Ramil Hasan, in Bishkek.
The TURKPA Secretary General congratulated the Speaker on the successful completion of the early parliamentary elections held in Kyrgyzstan and on his re-election as Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament.
Ramil Hasan provided information on the main activities carried out by TURKPA in the recent period, the further enhancement of cooperation with international parliamentary organizations, as well as the priority areas for 2026. In this context, he highlighted the steps taken to strengthen the visibility of TURKPA on international platforms.
During the meeting, the sides discussed significant strides made in the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to TURKPA as a full member, the development of cooperation with Hungary, and the strengthening of relations with European institutions.
The parties also emphasized the importance of the events planned within the framework of TURKPA in the near future, as well as the informal meetings of the Speakers of the parliaments of the member states planned to be held on the margins of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul, Türkiye. At the same time, the meeting noted that preparations for the upcoming 15th plenary session of TURKPA, to be held in Kyrgyzstan, are continuing successfully.
The Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament hailed the activities of TURKPA, noting that the Kyrgyz side would continue to provide comprehensive support for the organization’s initiatives.
Secretary General was accompanied by his Deputy Saky Sadykov, and Chief of Protocol Yadigar Mammadov.
