NATO Secretary General Rutte and Romanian President Dan Discuss Over Phone After Russian Drone Crash
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Romanian President Nicuşor Dan held a phone conversation following the crash of a Russian drone in the Romanian city of Galati. The two leaders condemned the incident in statements on their social media accounts, emphasizing defense cooperation and solidarity.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated in a social media post that he assured Romanian President Nicuşor Dan of NATO's absolute solidarity with Romania. Extending his wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident, Rutte said, "NATO is ready to defend every inch of allied territory. We will continue to enhance our deterrence and defense against all threats, including drones."
Rutte emphasized that Russia's reckless actions pose a danger to everyone and that the recent incident once again demonstrated that this situation knows no borders.
Romanian President Dan, in a statement on his social media account, described the incident as the 'most serious security event' on Romanian soil since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. Stating that Romania's sovereignty was violated, Dan strongly condemned the situation and asserted that all responsibility for the incident lies with Russia.
Thanking NATO and its allies for their solidarity, Dan noted that they will continue to work in close coordination with NATO, especially to strengthen air defenses with anti-aircraft and anti-drone capabilities. Dan also stated that Romania is a strong ally and will not accept any threats to the safety of its citizens.
