Azerbaijan maintains active participation within the D-8 organization. Today, the Azerbaijani government supports the events implemented by the D-8 organization, said Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam, Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, as he addressed the Youth Dialogue held in Baku.
Recalling the establishment of the D-8 in Istanbul in 1987, the Secretary-General noted that the organization's scope and influence have substantially expanded following Azerbaijan's accession.
"The core mission of the D-8 organization is to promote economic cooperation and trade, while also prioritizing key areas such as youth development and climate action. Azerbaijan's accession to the organization has significantly expanded the D-8’s climate initiatives. The COP29 experience is of paramount importance for us,” the Secretary-General noted.
“Young people make up one-fifth of our population, who are actively contributing to the development and playing a critical role in shaping our future. To support young people, the D-8 organization is launching the Youth Dialogue. We believe that this platform will significantly enhance young people’s global skills and understanding, leading to their greater engagement in global processes, generating innovative and inclusive ideas, and helping us collectively ensure a safer tomorrow,” he added.
