An armed individual was reported to have been shot by police near the White House in Washington, D.C.
A U.S. Secret Service official held a press conference regarding the armed incident near the White House. Officials stated that a suspect, identified as armed at the intersection of Independence Avenue and 15th Street, was shot by police and taken to the hospital.
It was reported that gunshots were heard around the White House yesterday afternoon local time, and as a precaution, reporters working in the White House garden were gathered in the meeting room by the Secret Service. Shortly after the gunshots were heard, the alarm was lifted as there was no threat.
