The US Central Command announced that Iran attacked US warships and commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, evaluated the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz to the American press. Cooper stated that Iran targeted some US warships sailing in the Strait of Hormuz along with their accompanying commercial vessels. Cooper noted that Iran launched attacks on ships protected by the US military using numerous cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and some naval vessels, saying, "All of these threats were neutralized. In response to Iran's attack, the US military struck and sank 6 Iranian boats."
