UK Heads to Polls for Local Elections
In England, Scotland, and Wales, which make up the United Kingdom, voters went to the polls for local and regional elections.

In the local elections across England, where approximately 5,000 council members and some regional mayors will be elected, voting began at 07:00 local time. In Scotland and Wales, voters are casting their ballots to determine their national parliaments. In England, council memberships in 136 municipalities and six mayoral positions will be directly elected with today's votes. As part of the local elections, mayoral elections are also being held in the London areas of Croydon, Hackney, Lewisham, Newham, Tower Hamlets, and Watford.
