A 3-day ceasefire declared between Russia and Ukraine
US President Donald Trump announced that a 3-day ceasefire decision has been made between Russia and Ukraine, covering May 9, 10, and 11.

 

US President Donald Trump announced on his social media account that a 3-day ceasefire will be implemented between Russia and Ukraine due to Victory Day. Trump said, “I am pleased to announce a three-day (May 9, 10, and 11) ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine.” Trump stated that this period holds significance for both countries, saying, “The celebration in Russia is for Victory Day, but it is the same in Ukraine as well, because they were also a major part and factor in World War II.”

1,000 PRISONERS TO BE EXCHANGED

Sharing details about the scope of the ceasefire, Trump stated that military activity on the ground will cease, saying, “This ceasefire will include the suspension of all kinetic activities and also the exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each country.” Speaking about the decision-making process, Trump said, “This request was made directly by me, and I greatly appreciate its acceptance by President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky.”

‘WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO A RESULT EVERY DAY’

Expressing his expectation that the ceasefire will have a lasting impact on the course of the war, Trump said, “I hope this is the beginning of the end of this very long, deadly, and difficult war,” emphasizing that permanent peace negotiations are ongoing. Trump concluded his remarks as follows:

“Talks to end this greatest conflict since World War II are continuing, and we are getting closer to a result every day.”
