A new "Azerbaijan Corner" has opened at the Antalya Toy Museum as a project of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Turkey. The museum offers visitors a unique experience featuring traditional toys and artifacts from various cultures.
The exhibition is enriched with models, sculptures, and figures of popular fairy-tale and cartoon characters. The "Azerbaijan Corner" specifically features model dolls of national folklore heroes, including Tig-tig Khanum, Goychak Fatma, Jirtdan, Qari Nana (Old Grandmother), and Malikmammad. The display also includes a symbolic flying carpet and a figure of an Azerbaijani woman weaving a carpet.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Serap Deryali, Deputy Director of Antalya’s Culture and Tourism Department, emphasized that toys are not merely entertainment for children but are carriers of culture, memory, and education. She noted that creating a section for brotherly Azerbaijan serves as a "window into the spiritual world" of the Azerbaijani people for both children and adults.
Samir Abbasov, Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Turkiye, highlighted that children learn about cultures most sincerely through characters and stories. He noted that these models represent heroes who have lived in the collective memory of generations.
