Death toll rises to 70 in 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia
The death toll in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred on August 15 in eastern Indonesia has reportedly risen to 70.

The Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) announced that the death toll in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara province has reached 70, with 132 people injured. It was stated that the condition of 40 of the injured is serious, and with no more missing reports, teams are focusing on field scanning and recovery efforts.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that 2,357 aftershocks were recorded in the Flores region. It was noted that 24 of these aftershocks were above 5 in magnitude, with the largest being measured at 6.2, and 72 were felt.

Medical personnel were dispatched by helicopter to areas with limited access, while more than 5,000 people were reported to be staying in temporary shelters.
