Iran responds to Trump's 'economic war' rhetoric: An attempt by the US to divert from its own crisis
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi criticized US President Donald Trump's 'economic war' rhetoric against Iran, stating that this announcement is an attempt to conceal the US's record-level debt crisis.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi responded to US President Donald Trump's announcements of comprehensive economic sanctions planned against Iran in a post on his social media account. Criticizing the policies pursued by the Washington administration, Arakchi stated, “The so-called 'economic war' is an attempt by America to divert attention from its own crisis, namely the unprecedented debt and rapidly increasing interest costs.”

Arakchi noted that insisting on failed policies would only lead to more defeat, saying, “Insisting on failed policies will only bring more defeat and hostility from the Iranian people. The US's economic terrorism threatens the global economy and worldwide sovereignty.”

In his post, Arakchi also included images from international media highlighting that the US national debt has surpassed the 40 trillion dollar threshold and that Trump's policies have increased the debt burden.
