Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi: US Sanctions Doomed to Fail
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the new economic sanctions announced by the US against Tehran are doomed to fail, noting that Washington's previous pressure policies also yielded no results.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a statement on his social media account, assessed the history of US sanctions against Tehran. Following US President Donald Trump's announcement of launching 'the most crushing economic operation in history' and an 'economic D-Day' move against Iran, Araghchi emphasized that Washington's coercive steps had not worked before. Araghchi noted that the new US economic sanctions are doomed to fail, highlighting that previous pressure policies also yielded no results.

Pointing to past US rhetoric, Araghchi said, “14 years ago, they said 'the most crippling sanctions in history,' it failed. 8 years ago, they said 'maximum pressure,' it failed. 5 months ago, they said 'unconditional surrender,' it failed. Today, they say 'the most crushing economic operation ever'; this too is doomed to fail. We've seen this movie before. The same nonsense, different bullies,” he said.

Trump had stated that an unprecedented scale of economic war and isolation would be applied against any element providing economic support to Iran, describing this step as 'Economic D-Day.'
